This week was the first of I hope many workshops. This was a beginner workshop held in the most adorable town of Saxonburg Pa. I am not overflowing with photos to post. I was busy sharing what aperture, f stops and composition, and creativity ( framing, reflections)… ect.. giving knowledge to a group that was eager to learn.

I wish I had a group shot but we were having so much fun .. I forgot :( sorry. I have a few to post, and I am hoping that those that would like to share any of their ws photos will send to me to post.

Girls were shooting each other……. with their camera’s of course.

we also had two of the sweetest little models pose for us.

And wrestle… there is no sense in doing anything if you can’t have fun.

But we were not limited to people. We were engaging in creative exercises ( find you name game) and looking at light in a whole new way.

I enjoy watching others reaction when it clicks! Oh, I see!!! this happens when you do this or that. How fun.

I had a wonderful teacher many years ago now. I am grateful, I could pass on a small portion of what he taught me.

More to come..

I had a senior high schools session yesterday. How I have been loving these the past year. There used to be a time that I was not so fond of senior sessions and I did not do them. Those days are gone. I have had a blast with every single one. The guys are great. And the girls have been delightful to work with. I think the changing times has changed my attitude about them. It used to be same old boring session… nothing new, everyone wanted the same thing. Ugg… that can suck the life out of your creativity.

But no more!! We have been to some very interesting places to snap a few (one is a gas pump out in a field) no kidding…it worked but I did not fill up my tank.

I just had to stop to ask permission. And the gentleman was happy to oblige. We had a great time we laughed and joked the entire time. So far every teen has walked away smiling…. that makes me feel like I did my job and I did it well :) Thank God the days of say CHEESE are long gone.

Well who knows as long as I love the senior sessions I will keep on taking their photographs.

Here is one I had the pleasure of photographing at a friends gorgeous pond. I do think this should be a book cover or a movie ad from a time long ago. Isn’t she lovely? Inside and out.

Thanks for stopping by.. I would love to hear from you. Oh here is one where we found an old gas pump on a back country road… pretty cool

Finishing up our session as the sun went down.. I decided to grab one more photo for the day. So glad I did. One of my faves.

You never know where your inspiration is going to come from. Albeit a can of soda, a good friend, or a container of tomato paste. At a graduation party this summer, reminiscing with a few gals, I decided to do a ‘Vintage” series. And you know girls, we were all giddy over the intuitive ways we curled, straitened, ironed, kinked, twisted, sprayed, poofed, and teased our hair.

Did you know some girls used soda cans for lift, and curl? While others had an excess of Tomato Paste in their pantries.

That evening, while talking to my *almost* 95 year old Grandma, I told her of my series to be. I asked her about old fashioned hair-do techniques and “tools” she may have used. Well- she followed with this gem of a story:

We rented a house from the coal mine, one of those row houses. One day I said to Eleanor (my neighbor and friend) ”I came across these in the cellar, the previous renter must have left them behind.” They were cylindrical, and had a perfect little clip. They would work perfectly for our hair! I rolled Eleanors hair, and she rolled mine. She went home to her chores, and I stayed to do mine.

When my husband came home from work I met him at the door and He exclaimed “OH VIOLET!” ”What’s in your hair?!” and “Get them out, get them out, get them OUT!” Followed by “Where did you get those?!!!!!”

I explained ”Glenn, I found them in the cellar, they work perfectly for my hair. ” He preceded to tell me in a panic, what I had in my locks, was actually BLASTING CAPS the coal mine used to ignite dynamite! Then I explained that Eleanor also had a head full of blasting caps- he must MUST go tell her too.

Gingerly I unrolled, every last “curler”. Eleanor’s husband stopped her from throwing hers in the wood stove. They were returned to the coal mine and nobody was hurt.

I got the best laugh out of this.. although Gram said this is the first time she actually laughed about it. It only took over 60yrs but she finally did laugh.

Grandma never thought this story would be re-told. But lo and behold, here it is. I decided I can’t really use blasting caps, for visual purposes, but i did manage to get a few tomato paste curlers.

I think this is by far the funniest story gram ever told me… I also wonder if Lucy was inspired by Violet?

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Family vacation is always my favorite. I love to rent a big house at the OBX on the beach and enjoy!!

This year we had a spectacular house thanks to Kristy who did all of the searching and booking.

The children seeing the ocean for the first time this season is one of the highlight’s of my day. We always go to visit the 4 x4 beach… ( you can only get there in a 4 wheel drive vehicle) thank goodness we all own one. Every year we see a couple of wild horses, they are a little squeamish. Not this year though.

When we arrived at 4 x 4 we saw the horses far off. I was happy with that. So I was enjoying the view and sound of the clicking as I captured some of the beauty God had so graciously spread around. When several wild horse were coming straight at us.

Not only did they walk right past us, they had a traveling companion hitching a ride on their backs.

Did I mention how much I love the beach?

as well as an itty bitty yellow polka dot bikini.

I always keep clothes line and pins in my bag… you never know when your gonna need them.

Below is my girl all wrapped up in her beach towel. I think she is really special.

Family vaca is my favorite time of the year.

Day 4

The word for the day is heavy metal.

Tomorrow is my hubby and my anniversary. As I was looking for an idea for today’s assignment, I thought about my ring: it metal, and

I have this old metal bubble gum machine. It reminded me that the first ring he ever gave me was from a gum machine. (we were kids). He still is. *wink*

I am so enjoying this creative boot camp. I love forcing myself to look beyond the obvious.

Day 3

The word for the day is Multilayered

Todays word made me think of how we are like onions.

Layers many of them ~ how complex we are as humans. We are made up of many layers, some good and some .. not so good.

If and when we come to a point in our lives that we need to peel the smelly layers off, one by one … the revealing of who we are, and what we were

created to be.

Peeling the layers off to get to the core; is not painless, can cut to the heart, make us shed tears and turn away .

Often times, without our calloused layers we feel unprotected.

But the truth is, when we peel away the unwanted layers , we shall find a tender heart, more like flesh and not of stone.

Day 2

Today’s word is Picnic.

The first think I thought of was red and white check….. so did I have any print like that? Yep, I had forgotten about it.

Thinking about picnic, the image I had in my mind was a dreamy one with a little girl enjoying the company of her childhood friends.

Emma’s poor little legs looked like mine as a kid, all bruised and bit up from playing in the creek.

Day 1

I started a creativity boot camp at Madeline Bea’s blog. You can check out her blog using the button at the bottom of the page.

Today’s word is Ivory. This is what I came up with.

I chose the bird house for more than just an Ivory object. It is Sunday and I have been pondering

how….. the Lord is my shelter.

Thanks Madeline Bea for hosting this creative workshop. I think I will keep the writing part to myself for now.

This Mom 2B is such a gentle sweetheart. She is not so fond of being in front of the camera

Yet… she did it, because she understands how these kinds of memories need to be

preserved to be passed onto the next generation.

Here is a few of baby Christian I took last week. Almost 6weeks old already. I you remember I left off with His amazing parents going of to the hospital.

Well they made it to the hospital on time. And had a beautiful baby boy, they named him … “Christian”

Is there anything sweeter?

*shhhhh*

for this entire session”…… I am betting that is exactly what he was thinking.

Honestly, I think he was so interested in

what was going on, he hardly blinked let alone take a nap the entire time.

Maybe I got one of him blinking.

Look at those peepers.

Thanks for checking out my blog. And thanks Christian for the visit and for bringing Mom with you.
